Mycosan

Mycosan is an over-the-counter topical treatment developed by Serrix for the treatment and prevention of fungal nail infections (onychomycosis) and athlete's foot (tinea pedis). Formulated as a serum or gel, Mycosan contains rye ferment filtrate as its primary active ingredient, alongside pentylene glycol, dimethyl isosorbide, and hydroxyethylcellulose. It is registered as a Class IIa medical device in Europe. Mycosan works through a physical and chemical mechanism of action: it penetrates the nail or skin to form a protective barrier film that inhibits fungal growth, while also acidifying the microenvironment to create unfavorable conditions for dermatophytes (such as Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, and Epidermophyton floccosum). The formulation also helps stabilize and nourish the nail structure to support healthy regrowth.
