MycoVa

**MycoVa** is a topical nail solution formulation of the allylamine antifungal terbinafine combined with the penetration enhancer dodecyl-2-N,N-dimethylaminopropionate (DDAIP), developed to treat onychomycosis (fungal infection of the nails). MycoVa was created by Apricus Biosciences using its NexACT transdermal delivery technology to increase terbinafine penetration through the nail plate, potentially enabling effective topical therapy for nail fungus without the systemic exposure and hepatotoxicity concerns associated with oral terbinafine. Terbinafine inhibits fungal squalene epoxidase, a key enzyme in ergosterol biosynthesis, leading to toxic accumulation of squalene and disruption of fungal cell membranes, providing fungicidal activity against dermatophytes that commonly cause onychomycosis.[4][6]
