myeloma idiotype vaccine

Myeloma idiotype vaccine is a patient-specific cancer vaccine developed as an immunotherapy for multiple myeloma. The vaccine uses the unique idiotype (Id) protein—derived from the monoclonal immunoglobulin produced by malignant plasma cells—as a tumor-specific antigen. Clinical approaches include conjugation of the idiotype protein to immunogenic carriers like keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) or as DNA fusion constructs encoding single-chain variable fragments (scFv) of the patient's tumor-derived Id fused to immunostimulatory proteins such as tetanus toxin fragment C.
