MYO-004 is a first-in-class, injectable small-molecule obesity candidate from MitoRx that acts as a mitochondrial-targeted persulfide modifier to restore dysfunctional sulfide signaling, enhance energy expenditure, and promote fat loss while preserving lean muscle and bone mass.[3][8][11][9] In preclinical diet-induced obesity models, the compound normalized glycemic control, improved metabolic rate, restored insulin sensitivity, and reduced fat mass without the substantial muscle loss observed with GLP-1 receptor agonists such as semaglutide, and showed additive fat-loss and muscle-preserving effects when used in combination with GLP-1 therapy.[2][3][5][8] MYO-004 is positioned as a next-generation, mitochondria-centric cardiometabolic therapy targeting the underlying metabolic impairment of obesity rather than appetite suppression, and is currently in preclinical development advancing toward clinical candidate selection.[2][3][8][9]
