Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of myo-inositol, alpha-lipoic acid, and folic acid is a nutraceutical supplement primarily used to support reproductive health and metabolic function. Myo-inositol acts as an insulin sensitizer and supports cellular signaling pathways involved in glucose metabolism and ovarian function. Alpha-lipoic acid is a potent antioxidant that also improves insulin sensitivity, reduces oxidative stress, and has anti-inflammatory properties. Folic acid (vitamin B9) is essential for DNA synthesis, red blood cell formation, homocysteine metabolism, and fetal neural development during pregnancy. This combination has been studied for its potential benefits in improving oocyte quality and embryo development in women undergoing IVF (in vitro fertilization), particularly those who are overweight or obese but do not have PCOS[2]. It is also investigated for improving sperm parameters in sub-fertile men[1], as well as for managing symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), including menstrual irregularities, hyperandrogenism, insulin resistance, and metabolic disturbances[4][9]. The synergistic effect of myo-inositol with alpha-lipoic acid appears to enhance insulin sensitivity more than either agent alone[4][9]. The product Sinopol (Laborest) is one example of this specific combination available commercially.
