Overview

myo-inositol + folic acid is a combination therapeutic and dietary supplement primarily indicated for the management of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Myo-inositol, a carbocyclic sugar, serves as a second messenger for insulin and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), helping to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce hyperandrogenism, and restore regular ovulatory cycles. Folic acid (vitamin B9) is included to support DNA synthesis and cellular division, particularly to reduce the risk of neural tube defects in women of childbearing age. The combination is marketed under various brand names, including Inofolic, and is also being investigated for the treatment of ano-perineal fistulas and the management of metabolic markers like asprosin during pregnancy.
