MyoMed-205 is a small molecule inhibitor targeting muscle-specific RING finger protein-1 (MuRF1, also known as TRIM63), an E3 ubiquitin ligase that plays a central role in muscle protein degradation and atrophy. Developed by Myomedix GmbH, the compound inhibits both the enzymatic activity of MuRF1 and the expression of MuRF1 and MuRF2 (TRIM55). Preclinical research has demonstrated that MyoMed-205 can protect against skeletal muscle atrophy, improve contractile function, and reduce myocardial fibrosis. It is being investigated as a potential therapeutic for various muscle wasting conditions, including heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF), cancer cachexia, disuse-induced diaphragmatic dysfunction (DIDD), and muscle weakness associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
