Overview

Myopine is a low-dose atropine eye drop formulation developed for the management of myopia progression in children aged 6 years and older. Originally discovered by the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and distributed by IDB VisionCare, it contains atropine sulfate, a nonselective muscarinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist. By blocking these receptors in the eye, Myopine is thought to slow the elongation of the eyeball, thereby controlling the progression of shortsightedness. It is available in 0.01% and 0.025% concentrations and is typically administered once daily at bedtime. Myopine is recognized as a pioneering low-dose atropine product with preservatives officially registered for myopia control.
