myostatin propeptide-fc is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of the propeptide domain of myostatin (GDF-8) fused to an Fc fragment of immunoglobulin. It acts as a *myostatin inhibitor* by binding to and sequestering active myostatin, a growth differentiation factor (GDF-8) that normally serves as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. Inhibiting myostatin signaling leads to increased muscle mass and muscle fiber size, as demonstrated in several animal models. Studies in aged mice showed that systemic administration of myostatin propeptide-Fc increased muscle mass and fiber diameter, but did not have significant effects on bone density or bone strength. The Fc fusion enhances stability and half-life in vivo. Its main proposed indications include sarcopenia, muscle wasting, and muscular dystrophy.[3][5]
