Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MyX-001 is a biodegradable mucoadhesive nanoparticle drug delivery platform designed to facilitate the sustained release of various therapeutic agents via mucosal routes, including ophthalmic, intranasal, sublingual, vaginal, and gastrointestinal administration. Developed by MyX Therapeutics Inc., a spin-off from AmorChem and the University of Waterloo, the technology employs nanoparticles that adhere to mucosal tissues, thereby extending the residence time of the drug at the site of action. This prolonged release profile aims to enhance drug efficacy and improve patient compliance by significantly reducing the required dosing frequency, such as enabling once- or twice-weekly administration for conditions like dry eye disease when loaded with Cyclosporin A.
