Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**MZ-004** is an investigational, locally delivered bacterial collagenase formulation developed by Matrizyme Pharma for chronic total occlusions of coronary arteries. The product is a proprietary mixture of collagenase isoforms, primarily collagenase IA and II, produced from *Clostridium histolyticum*. It is injected through a coronary microcatheter into the proximal cap of a chronic total occlusion before planned percutaneous coronary intervention. By enzymatically degrading collagen-rich extracellular matrix within the fibrotic occlusion, MZ-004 is intended to soften the lesion and facilitate antegrade guidewire crossing and subsequent revascularization.
