N-(2-(piperidino)ethyl)-2-iodobenzamide, also known as 2-IBP, is a small molecule sigma ligand. It demonstrates high-affinity binding to sigma receptors found on small cell lung cancer (SCLC) cell lines, such as NCI-H209 and NCI-N417. In preclinical studies, 2-IBP has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of SCLC cells in vitro and in vivo, and it exhibits localization to SCLC tumors after subcutaneous injection. Its mechanism of action involves targeting sigma receptors, leading to an anti-proliferative effect on cancer cells.
