Overview

N-acetyl-8-methoxycoumarin-3-carboxamide is a small molecule research compound belonging to the 8-methoxycoumarin-3-carboxamide class. It was synthesized through the acetylation of 8-methoxycoumarin-3-carboxamide and has demonstrated antiproliferative activity against HepG2 liver cancer cells with an IC50 of 2.3 µM. The compound shows improved cytotoxic activity compared to its parent scaffold, suggesting that the acetyl group enhances binding to target proteins, likely through hydrogen bonding. Mechanistically, this class of compounds is designed to inhibit β-tubulin polymerization and activate caspase-3/7 mediated apoptosis. It is currently an academic research compound primarily studied for its potential in treating hepatocellular carcinoma.
