Drug intelligence / Profile preview
N-acetyl-L-arginine is an acetylated derivative of the amino acid L-arginine. It belongs to the class of organic compounds known as n-acyl-l-alpha-amino acids. As a small molecule and experimental compound (not approved for clinical use), it is structurally related to L-arginine but features an acetyl group attached to the nitrogen atom. While L-arginine itself is well-studied for its role in nitric oxide production and vasodilation, there is limited information on specific pharmacological actions or clinical indications for N-acetyl-L-arginine. Its mechanism of action may be similar to that of L-arginine due to structural similarity but has not been established in human studies[3].
