Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination of two antioxidant agents used to combat oxidative stress. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is an acetylated precursor of L-cysteine and reduced glutathione that functions as an antioxidant by improving thiol redox status and scavenging free radicals. Deferoxamine (DFX) is a powerful iron chelator that acts as a direct scavenger of superoxide anion and prevents iron-mediated oxidative damage. The combination aims to provide synergistic antioxidant effects by preventing NAC oxidation and the occurrence of Fenton chemistry maintained by iron recycling.
