Overview

**N-alpha-methylhistamine** is a synthetic small molecule structurally related to histamine. It acts as a **potent agonist at histamine H3, H4, and H2 receptors**. Specifically, it has been used as a research tool and discovery agent for studying histaminergic signaling and is known to stimulate cAMP production through H2 receptor activation. NAMH has been investigated in the context of gastric mucosa, particularly in Helicobacter pylori infection, where its production is upregulated. Its agonist actions at H3 and H4 receptors are of primary interest in neuropharmacology and immunology[3][5][6].
