Drug intelligence / Profile preview
N-IgY is a chicken egg yolk-derived immunoglobulin Y (IgY) antibody that specifically targets and blocks the Niemann-Pick C1-like 1 (NPC1L1) cholesterol transporter. Developed by researchers at Gachon University, CHA University, and Bioceltrand, N-IgY is designed to inhibit intestinal and hepatic cholesterol absorption, mimicking the mechanism of the small molecule drug ezetimibe. In preclinical models, N-IgY has been investigated for the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), particularly in combination with omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs), where it has demonstrated synergistic effects in reducing hepatic steatosis, fibrosis, and inflammation.
