Overview

N-iminoethyl-L-lysine (commonly known as L-NIL) is a synthetic, small molecule that acts as a potent and selective inhibitor of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS). It shows high selectivity for iNOS over constitutive nitric oxide synthase isoforms and is used primarily as a pharmacological tool in research to investigate the role of iNOS in pathophysiological processes and disease models. Developed for biochemical and animal model investigation, its main action is competitive, reversible inhibition of iNOS-dependent nitric oxide production[1][7][9].
