Overview

N-Isopropylnoratropine is an anticholinergic small molecule drug primarily used in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as bronchitis and asthma. It functions by binding to muscarinic receptors on parasympathetic nerves, thereby inhibiting acetylcholine-induced secretion from goblet cells and reducing the contraction of smooth muscle in the airways. This action leads to a decrease in bronchial secretions and alleviates symptoms like wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. It is also recognized as a derivative of Noratropine and an intermediate or impurity in the production of Ipratropium. While it has been used clinically, some sources indicate it is now a discontinued product, often supplied for laboratory use only.
