**n-linoleoylethanolamine** is a naturally occurring fatty acid ethanolamide and a member of the N-acylethanolamines class (NAEs), structurally defined as the ethanolamide of linoleic acid. It is found endogenously in animal tissues and in certain foods. It is considered to exhibit **endocannabinoid-like activity**, although it has only weak affinity for the canonical cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) and does not produce typical psychotropic cannabinoid effects. Instead, it is thought to exert biological effects mainly by **inhibiting fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH)**, leading to increased levels of other endocannabinoids such as anandamide, which in turn may potentiate anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, including inhibition of NF-κB signaling. Animal studies suggest a role in metabolic regulation, such as reducing weight gain and circulating lipids, and decreasing inflammatory cytokines. It is under consideration primarily as a research tool and a potential dietary supplement for anti-inflammatory and metabolic applications[1][3][5][7].
