Overview

N-propionylated prostate-specific antigen-keyhole limpet hemocyanin is a synthetic conjugate designed for immunological research, primarily in the context of prostate cancer. It consists of N-propionylated fragments of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) chemically linked to Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH), a highly immunogenic carrier protein derived from the marine mollusk Megathura crenulata. The purpose of conjugating the modified PSA fragments to KLH is to enhance their immunogenicity, thereby eliciting a robust immune response, such as the generation of specific antibodies. This construct is investigated for potential applications in developing novel diagnostic assays for prostate cancer by targeting differentially glycosylated PSA structures, or as a vaccine candidate to induce an immune response against prostate cancer cells.
