Drug intelligence / Profile preview
N02RS1 is a botanical drug candidate developed by PharmaKing for the treatment of acute bronchitis and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. It is a phytoformula consisting of a 1:1 mixture of the ethyl acetate fraction from the root barks of *Broussonetia papyrifera* (paper mulberry) and a 70% aqueous ethanol extract from the whole plant of *Lonicera japonica* (Japanese honeysuckle). The drug exerts its therapeutic effects through a dual mechanism of action involving the inhibition of 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) and the down-regulation of proinflammatory cytokines, specifically Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α) and Interleukin-1 (IL-1). It has been evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials in South Korea to assess its efficacy and safety compared to placebo.
