Overview

N1177 is an investigational, radio-opaque contrast agent developed by NanoScan Imaging LLC. It is an emulsified suspension composed of crystalline iodinated particles dispersed with a surfactant. Designed for use with computed tomography (CT) and CT angiography (CTA), N1177 is intended to visualize blood vessels, organs, and heart chambers, with a particular focus on detecting macrophage-rich atherosclerotic plaques. Its mechanism involves accumulating in macrophage cells, which are key components of vulnerable plaques, thereby enabling their detection. Unlike traditional contrast agents, N1177 is cleared through the liver, potentially reducing renal toxicity.
