Drug intelligence / Profile preview
N2B-2502 (also known as [18F]N2B-2502 or [18F]1) is a novel fluorine-18 labeled imidazopyridinone analog developed by researchers at Emory University as a positron emission tomography (PET) radioligand. It selectively targets the glutamate N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor subunit epsilon-2 (GluN2B), which plays a critical role in regulating receptor function and synaptic plasticity. Dysregulation of GluN2B-containing NMDA receptors is implicated in various neurological and neurodegenerative disorders. In preclinical rodent models, [18F]N2B-2502 demonstrated robust specific binding in GluN2B-enriched brain regions (such as the cortex, striatum, and thalamus) and exhibited good metabolic stability, making it a promising non-invasive imaging tool to study GluN2B distribution and pathology in vivo.
