Overview

N332 GT5 mRNA is an experimental mRNA-encoded HIV vaccine developed by the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) in collaboration with GSK, Scripps Research, and Moderna. The vaccine utilizes Moderna's mRNA platform to encode an HIV envelope (Env) immunogen specifically designed to target the N332 glycan supersite on the virus surface. This germline-targeting approach aims to prime rare B-cell precursors that can eventually mature into broadly neutralizing antibodies (bnAbs) capable of protecting against a wide range of HIV strains. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials (such as the IAVI G004 study) as part of a sequential vaccination strategy to induce protective immunity against HIV.
