Overview

NA-17.A2 (also known as NA17.A2) is a synthetic peptide-based cancer vaccine developed by the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (LICR) for the treatment of melanoma. The vaccine consists of a peptide sequence derived from the NA17 antigen, which is a product of the N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase V (GnT-V) gene. This antigen is specifically presented on the surface of tumor cells by HLA-A2 molecules. NA-17.A2 is designed to stimulate the immune system, particularly cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs), to recognize and destroy melanoma cells expressing the NA17 antigen. It has been investigated in Phase I/II clinical trials, often in combination with adjuvants such as CpG 7909 to enhance the magnitude and duration of the anti-tumor immune response.
