Na-APR-1 (M74) is a recombinant protein vaccine candidate developed by the Sabin Vaccine Institute Product Development Partnership in collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine for the prevention of hookworm infection caused by *Necator americanus*. The vaccine targets the hookworm's aspartic protease-1 (Na-APR-1), a hemoglobinase essential for the parasite's digestion of host blood. The M74 version is a catalytically inactive mutant of the wild-type enzyme, produced in *Nicotiana benthamiana* plants. It is typically formulated with aluminum hydroxide (Alhydrogel) and may be co-administered with the TLR4 agonist adjuvant GLA-AF to enhance immunogenicity and protective efficacy against hookworm-induced anemia.
