Na-ASP-2 is a recombinant protein vaccine candidate developed by the Sabin Vaccine Institute for the prevention of hookworm infection caused by *Necator americanus*. The vaccine consists of the Ancylostoma Secreted Protein 2 (ASP-2), which is expressed during the infective larval stage (L3) of the hookworm life cycle. ASP-2 is a member of the pathogenesis-related protein (PRP) superfamily and is thought to play a role in the transition of the parasite from the environment to the host. Vaccination aims to induce neutralizing antibodies that interfere with larval migration or survival. Clinical development has included Phase 1 trials in both hookworm-naive and previously infected populations.
