Drug intelligence / Profile preview
nab-paclitaxel + carboplatin is a combination chemotherapy regimen primarily for advanced non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and other solid tumors. Nab-paclitaxel, marketed as Abraxane, is a formulation of paclitaxel bound to albumin nanoparticles, enhancing drug delivery and reducing hypersensitivity reactions. Carboplatin is a platinum-based agent causing DNA crosslinking and apoptosis. The combination disrupts microtubule function (nab-paclitaxel) and induces DNA damage (carboplatin), leading to cancer cell death. Administered intravenously in 21-day cycles, it's effective as first-line therapy for advanced NSCLC patients with good performance status.
