This chemotherapeutic combination regimen consists of nab-paclitaxel, carboplatin, and endostatin. It is primarily being investigated by the Peking University Cancer Hospital & Institute for the treatment of advanced melanoma, particularly in patients who have failed prior PD-1 therapy. Nab-paclitaxel is an albumin-bound nanoparticle formulation of paclitaxel that acts as a microtubule stabilizer, preventing the disassembly of microtubules and thereby inhibiting cell division. Carboplatin is a platinum-based antineoplastic agent that forms reactive platinum complexes which cross-link DNA, interfering with DNA repair and synthesis. Endostatin (often administered as the brand Endostar in China) is a recombinant human protein that acts as a broad-spectrum angiogenesis inhibitor, interfering with the signaling of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and other pro-angiogenic factors to inhibit tumor blood vessel formation. The combination aims to provide synergistic anti-tumor activity by combining cytotoxic chemotherapy with anti-angiogenic therapy.
