The TP regimen, as defined in clinical research by Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital, is a neoadjuvant chemotherapy combination for HER2-negative early breast cancer. It consists of nab-paclitaxel (an albumin-bound nanoparticle formulation of paclitaxel) and a platinum-based agent, specifically either cisplatin or carboplatin. Nab-paclitaxel functions as a microtubule stabilizer, preventing the depolymerization of tubulin and thereby arresting the cell cycle in the G2/M phase. The platinum components, cisplatin and carboplatin, act as DNA alkylating-like agents that form intra-strand and inter-strand cross-links, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis. This regimen is particularly being investigated for its efficacy in patients with homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) subtypes, often compared against standard anthracycline/taxane (AT) regimens.
