Overview

Nab-paclitaxel + epirubicin is a combination chemotherapy regimen primarily used in the treatment of breast cancer, including triple-negative breast cancer. Nab-paclitaxel is an albumin-bound formulation of paclitaxel that enhances drug delivery and reduces hypersensitivity reactions compared to solvent-based formulations. It works by stabilizing microtubules and inhibiting their depolymerization, thereby blocking cell division and inducing apoptosis in rapidly dividing tumor cells[1][3][5]. Epirubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II activity, leading to DNA strand breaks and inhibition of DNA replication. This combination has shown promising anti-tumor activity as neoadjuvant therapy for triple-negative breast cancer with manageable toxicity profiles[2]. Nab-paclitaxel is marketed under the brand name Abraxane; epirubicin's common brand name is Ellence.
