Overview
nab-paclitaxel + oxaliplatin + S-1 is a combination chemotherapy regimen, often referred to as nab-paclitaxel plus SOX, utilized in the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers. Nab-paclitaxel is an albumin-bound nanoparticle formulation of paclitaxel that promotes microtubule assembly and prevents disassembly, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Oxaliplatin is a third-generation platinum-based antineoplastic agent that forms intra- and inter-strand DNA cross-links, thereby inhibiting DNA replication and transcription. S-1 is an oral fluoropyrimidine combination consisting of tegafur (a prodrug of 5-fluorouracil), gimeracil (an inhibitor of dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase which slows 5-FU degradation), and oteracil (which reduces gastrointestinal toxicity). This regimen is being evaluated by Xijing Hospital as a neoadjuvant therapy for locally advanced gastric cancer and adenocarcinoma of the esophagogastric junction, frequently in combination with the PD-1 inhibitor serplulimab.
