Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nafarelin is a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist administered as a nasal spray. It works by initially stimulating the release of pituitary gonadotropins (LH and FSH), followed by suppression with continued use, leading to decreased sex hormone levels. This mechanism makes it effective for treating endometriosis in adult women by reducing estrogen levels and for managing central precocious puberty (CPP) in children by slowing sexual development and bone growth.
