Overview

Nagrestipen is a recombinant protein-based therapeutic agent that is a mutant derivative of human macrophage inflammatory protein-1 alpha (MIP-1α), specifically with an aspartate-to-alanine substitution at position 26. Developed for its antitumor properties, Nagrestipen (ECI301) has been investigated in preclinical and clinical studies for the treatment of cancer, including neoplasms and metastases. It enhances the efficacy of local antitumor therapies such as radiotherapy by promoting an abscopal effect—an immune-mediated response leading to tumor regression at sites distant from the primary treatment area. The drug acts as an immunomodulator, likely through modulation of chemokine signaling pathways involved in immune cell recruitment and activation[3][5][7].
