Overview

Nal-Glu is a synthetic peptide and potent gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor antagonist. It was developed to acutely inhibit the action of endogenous GnRH by competitively blocking its receptor (GnRHR), thereby suppressing the secretion of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). This results in inhibition of ovulation in women and suppression of spermatogenesis in men. Nal-Glu has been studied for use as a contraceptive agent and for investigating reproductive endocrinology. Its development was discontinued due to challenges with synthesis cost, delivery, and side effects compared to newer antagonists[1][2][4][5].
