Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NAL1215 is a transdermal patch formulation of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ketoprofen, currently under development by NAL Pharmaceutical Group. Designed for once-daily application, the patch utilizes a transdermal delivery system to provide sustained release of ketoprofen for the management of pain. Ketoprofen exerts its therapeutic effect by inhibiting the enzymes cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), which are critical for the biosynthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammatory responses. This delivery modality is intended to offer a convenient alternative to oral NSAIDs, potentially reducing gastrointestinal side effects and improving patient adherence.
