NAL1278

NAL1278 is a sustained-release liposomal formulation of the local anesthetic ropivacaine, developed by NAL Pharmaceutical Group. It is designed for administration via injection to provide extended pain relief for up to three days. Ropivacaine, the active moiety, is a member of the amino amide class of local anesthetics and functions by binding to the intracellular portion of voltage-gated sodium channels. This binding stabilizes the inactive state of the channel, preventing the influx of sodium ions and the subsequent depolarization of the nerve membrane, thereby blocking the conduction of pain signals. NAL1278 is currently in preclinical development for local anesthesia and postoperative pain management.
