Overview

NAL1876 is a liposomal formulation of the polyene antifungal amphotericin B, currently in preclinical development by NAL Pharmaceutical Group for the treatment of systemic fungal infections. The drug functions by binding to ergosterol, a key component of the fungal cell membrane, which leads to the formation of pores, leakage of intracellular contents, and subsequent cell death. By utilizing a liposomal delivery system, NAL1876 aims to improve the safety profile and therapeutic index of amphotericin B, which is traditionally associated with significant nephrotoxicity.
