NAL2522 is a long-acting microsphere injection formulation of risperidone, an atypical antipsychotic, developed by NAL Pharmaceutical Group. It functions as an antagonist at both dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT2A receptors. Designed for the treatment of schizophrenia and other central nervous system (CNS) disorders, NAL2522 utilizes a microsphere delivery system to provide sustained release of the active ingredient. This formulation aims to improve patient adherence and maintain stable therapeutic plasma levels compared to daily oral dosing. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
