Overview
NAL2526 is an extended-release injectable formulation of the atypical antipsychotic aripiprazole, developed by NAL Pharmaceutical Group. It is designed for the treatment of schizophrenia and other central nervous system (CNS) disorders, providing a long-acting therapeutic effect with a once-monthly dosing schedule. Aripiprazole functions as a partial agonist at the dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT1A receptors, and as an antagonist at the serotonin 5-HT2A receptor. This mechanism of action helps to stabilize dopamine and serotonin activity in the brain, addressing both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia while minimizing side effects. The program is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
