Overview

CT-101 is an investigational fixed-dose combination therapy being developed by Currax Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of obesity. It is a "triple combination" product consisting of three FDA-approved small molecules: naltrexone, bupropion, and topiramate. Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist and bupropion is an aminoketone antidepressant that acts as a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor; together, they are already marketed by Currax as Contrave, which targets the brain's reward system and the hypothalamus to reduce food cravings and appetite. The addition of topiramate, an antiepileptic medication, is intended to enhance weight loss through its effects on GABAergic signaling, carbonic anhydrase inhibition, and modulation of glutamate receptors and sodium channels. CT-101 is designed to provide a multi-pathway approach to weight management and is currently undergoing Phase 2 clinical evaluation.
