Overview

Namilast (BI 1015550) is an oral, small-molecule preferential inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B) developed by Boehringer Ingelheim. It is designed to address the inflammatory and fibrotic pathways involved in lung diseases. By inhibiting PDE4B, namilast increases intracellular levels of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), which modulates various cellular processes to reduce lung tissue scarring and inflammation. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical development for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and other progressive fibrosing interstitial lung diseases (PF-ILD), including pediatric populations.
