Overview

Namilumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody (IgG1 kappa) that targets and neutralizes granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF, also known as colony stimulating factor 2 or CSF2). By inhibiting GM-CSF, namilumab reduces the recruitment and activation of macrophages and monocytes, which are implicated in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. It has been investigated for use in rheumatoid arthritis, plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and pulmonary sarcoidosis. Namilumab is administered as a once-monthly subcutaneous injection. The drug was originally produced by Micromet Inc., with subsequent development by Takeda Pharmaceuticals International, Izana Bioscience, Kinevant Sciences, and Amgen[1][3][6][7].
