Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NanaBis is a proprietary cannabinoid-based pharmaceutical formulation developed for medical use, particularly in the management of pain. It is an oromucosal spray containing a 1:1 ratio of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), both derived from cannabis. The mechanism of action involves THC acting as a partial agonist at the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2), leading to modulation of neurotransmitter release, analgesia, and other central nervous system effects. CBD acts as an antagonist or modulator at these receptors and also interacts with other targets such as serotonergic receptors and vanilloid receptors, contributing to its therapeutic profile. NanaBis has been investigated primarily for cancer-related pain but may have potential applications in other chronic pain conditions.
