NANO-01 is a biomimetic nanoparticle-based therapeutic candidate developed for the treatment of osteoarthritis. Administered via intra-articular injection, it is designed to function as a high-performance lubricant that mimics the role of lubricin (proteoglycan 4) in the synovial fluid. By binding to the cartilage surface, NANO-01 reduces friction and mechanical wear, thereby protecting the joint from further degradation. In addition to its mechanical lubricating properties, NANO-01 exhibits anti-inflammatory effects by modulating the joint microenvironment and potentially inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The drug is currently being evaluated in clinical trials to assess its safety and efficacy in alleviating pain and slowing disease progression in patients with knee osteoarthritis.
