Overview

Nano amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) is a proprietary, synthetically stabilized, non-crystalline form of calcium carbonate developed by Amorphical. Unlike conventional crystalline calcium carbonate, ACC consists of nanoparticles (40–100 nm) that exhibit significantly higher solubility and bioavailability (up to double the oral bioavailability in humans). ACC acts via a unique pH-responsive therapeutic mechanism: it remains stable at physiological pH but rapidly dissolves in acidic microenvironments (pH < 7.35) commonly found in inflamed, osteoporotic, or cancerous tissues. Upon dissolution, it releases calcium and carbonate ions, which neutralize local acidity, normalize the pathological microenvironment, and support tissue repair and immune function. Amorphical is developing ACC (under the development codes AMOR-1 and AMOR-18) across multiple clinical indications, including hypoparathyroidism (Phase 2), Crohn's disease (Phase 2), pancreatic cancer (Phase 1/2), and osteoporotic fractures (Phase 1/2).
