Overview

Nano-cur (also referred to as Nano-CUR) is a nanoparticle formulation of curcumin encapsulated within poly(lactic acid-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) polymers. Developed to overcome the poor aqueous solubility, rapid metabolism, and low systemic bioavailability of native curcumin, this formulation utilizes a modified nano-precipitation method to achieve a particle size of approximately 70 nm. Curcumin is a natural polyphenol that exerts anti-cancer effects by modulating multiple signaling pathways. Nano-cur has been shown to downregulate pro-survival proteins such as Bcl-XL and Mcl-1, inhibit the β-catenin signaling pathway, and reduce the expression of HPV E6 and E7 oncogenes. In preclinical models of ovarian and cervical cancer, Nano-cur enhances the sensitivity of tumor cells to cisplatin and radiation therapy and induces apoptosis, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic or sensitizing agent in oncology.
