Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nano-hyaluronic acid (nano-HyA) is a specialized formulation of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan, engineered into nanoparticles to improve tissue penetration and biological efficacy. Developed for use in periodontology, specifically as an adjunct to minimally invasive non-surgical techniques (MINST), it is applied as a gel into deep intrabony defects. The drug works by modulating the inflammatory response, promoting soft tissue healing, and stimulating the regeneration of periodontal tissues through interactions with receptors like CD44. Cairo University is evaluating its effectiveness in treating Stage II and III periodontitis.
