Overview

Nano-QUT is a nanoparticle-encapsulated formulation of the bioactive flavonoid quercetin, utilizing a poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)-poly(ethylene glycol) (PLGA-PEG) polymer matrix for drug delivery. Quercetin is a naturally occurring polyphenolic compound known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antineoplastic properties; however, its clinical application is often hindered by poor aqueous solubility, low bioavailability, and rapid systemic clearance. Nano-QUT is designed to overcome these limitations by providing a sustained-release delivery system that enhances cellular uptake and specific tissue distribution. Developed for the treatment of oral malignancies such as tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC), Nano-QUT aims to improve the induction of apoptosis and inhibition of tumor cell proliferation compared to free quercetin by modulating key oncogenic signaling pathways.
